The mission of Sweet River Baptist Church is to pursue complete devotion to Jesus Christ and His glory!
Sweet River is a new church helping our community to fully know Jesus as Savior and to live in the abundant life He offers. We seek to worship God in Spirit and in truth, according to His biblical truths, to serve others in love and in fellowship. Our church is named after the hymn, Sweet Rivers of Redeeming Love, published by my ancestor, John Adam Granade.
Pastor Chris Thompson
My family moved to Hall County when I was 9 years old. I attended Sardis Elementary school. Little did I know at the time I would be honored to serve the Sardis community as pastor of Sweet River!Shortly after I came to know Christ as my Savior and was baptized, I answered the call of God to preach the Gospel. I was licensed by my church and began a journey of spreading the gospel in assisted living facilities, filling in for pastors, and seeking opportunities to spread the Word of God wherever He sent me. During this time, I also served as a deacon minister in the churches I attended and more recently as an ordained minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. My wife Cindy and I are blessed with a wonderful daughter and son-in-law, and three grandsons who we absolutely adore!
